About Pack 314

Cub Scout Pack 314 is part of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).  Pack 314 is chartered through "St. Raphael the Archangel Church" in Raleigh, NC.  Pack 314 resides within the local Falls District, which is part of the larger Occoneechee Council in NC.  As we are a "Cub Scout" Pack, our doors are wide open to ALL boys in (or entering) 1st through 5th grade.  For older boys, Troop 314 for "Boy Scouts" is also chartered through St. Raphael.

Pack 314 has been continuously charted since 1962.  Our average annual membership is 55-65 boys.  While Pack 314 is proud of every Scout that has been part of the Pack, we are especially proud of the significant number of Eagle Scouts (~70 young men) who started their Scouting adventure with us.  We are also proud of the many "Quality Unit" and other awards Pack 314 has earned/received over the years.

Pack 314 follows the regulations of the BSA.  The Pack's focus is for boys to have fun - and in the process supplement the education they receive at home, church, and school by fostering character development and spiritual growth.

The twelve core values in Scouting are that a Scout is "trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent".  Pack 314 places great emphasis on those values, and for every Cub Scout to "do his best" in everything he undertakes.

Pack 314 also places extreme emphasis on "child safety" and "child protection".  We ensure that our Leaders are formally trained, and that they are familiar with and adhere to BSA's "Guide to Safe Scouting".  We mandate "two-deep leadership" ALWAYS, to provide the safest environment possible for the boys in the Pack.  For all activities planned within the Pack, "age-appropriate" and "safe" are mandatory requirements (as well as "FUN").

That's a 50,000 foot view of Pack 314's history and focus.  If you want to learn more, please contact St. Raphael Church to obtain a current phone contact or send us an e-mail at: joinpack314@pack-314.org
